Connect Youth Program

How the connect youth program came about

The Institute’s has an educational partnership with the Jardim Colonial Parish Community Action group, through the Father Bello Adolescent Professional Training Center (CPA), for the development of educational methodology, training and the hiring of teachers on the Connect Youth Learning Program.

General Purpose

To promote the professional preparation of young graduates from courses / projects run by the Nextel Institute, by getting apprentices into jobs, based on the application of law no. 10097/2000, bringing about the application, integration and use of their skills for inclusion in productive processes and in a full social life.

Particular Purpose

  • To enable young people in training to integrate and use their skills to get included in the productive processes and in a full social life.
  • To increase the number of apprentice vacancies, so ensuring a balance between theoretical and practical training, balancing the requirements of the working world and the challenges to build a network of decent jobs for young people.
  • To allowing family members to understand that their children are in a process of great change, developing issues relevant to young people and the challenges of this age range, emphasizing the issue of work.
  • To disseminate Law no. 10.097/2000 – The Apprentice Law – to companies, social organizations, youths and their families as a form of employment and income generation.

Target Audience

Youths aged between 15 and 24.
Young graduates from initial professional qualification projects.
Attending public high school or already graduated.
Being in situations of personally or socially vulnerable situations.

Units

Nextel Institute, São Paulo / Nextel Institute, Rio de Janeiro (as of January 2012).

Period

Four days in the company.
One day a week (Wednesday, Thursday or Friday) at the Nextel Institute.

01 Introduction to administrative techniques Provides skills to support various administrative sectors in companies, handling and filling out documents and reports, spreadsheets, monitoring administrative processes, telephone services, using corporate email.

02 Introduction to commercial techniques Provides skills for face-to-face and telephone customer services, tele-services, verbal and written communication, developing empathy, initiative and flexibility.

03 Communication in the workplace

Oral and written communication, reading and reading comprehension, and digital inclusion.

Presents different commercial and official texts.

04 Labor rights, human resources and the labor market

Labor rights and social security, health and safety at work.

Human resource policies and corporate strategies.

05 Getting along, skills for the workplace

Organization, planning and control of work processes, communication and teamwork.

06 Basic English

English language skills necessary for survival in the current workplace, improvement of professional communication skills.

07 Computing and Information Technology Working with information technology and its applicability in daily work (operating system, Office suite and internet).

08 Lectures and training Through dialogue with the company, adapt corporate lectures and training sessions on practical and theoretical learning for administrative staff
